Halloweenhappenings

Everyone got to choose their costumes this year. Benjamin was bad Anakin, complete with a new black cloak courtesy of mom's sewing machine. Noah surprised us all when he announced that he would be breaking the mold of Benjamin's footsteps, by dressing as Mickey Mouse. Mom made new shorts, gloves and even yellow shoes. His costume was so good that the kids at school called him Mickey instead of Noah. He wasn't so keen on completely losing his identity. Caitlyn was guided into her costume choice by mom, so she went as Tinkerbell. In a rare moment of sanity, mom bought the costume already done, which saved a lot of time, money, and stress. When the kids asked what I was going to be, I replied "a mom who sews the costumes for kids." We went to Grandma Meldrum's Halloween party the Saturday before. She had trick-or-treating, a scavenger hunt, a pinata, pumpkin decorating, games and dinner. The kids had a great time and the parents were exhausted.

For Family Home Evening we had Bramwells over to carve pumpkins. Kyle was a good sport to let Noah help out so much. The kids were grossed out by the pumpkin guts. We had to really work to convince them that they should try the toasted pumpkin seeds we made.

On Halloween we go to go trick-or-treating at Bicentennial Park with our neighbors. Juli and Jordan came with us and played until Jordan couldn't take one more minute of fun. The best part was not the candy, but the chance to play at the park until it was too dark and cold to enjoy.
